1. Trim the Stems Before Placing in Water
As soon as you receive your bouquet, trim about 2–3 cm off the bottom of each stem at a 45° angle. This increases the surface area for water absorption and helps your flowers drink up what they need to stay vibrant. Use sharp scissors or a clean knife — avoid tearing or crushing the stems.
2. Use a Clean Vase with Fresh Water
Bacteria are a flower's worst enemy. Always start with a thoroughly cleaned vase and fill it with fresh, room-temperature water. Change the water every two days to keep things clean and your blooms happy.
3. Add the Flower Food Sachet
If your bouquet came with a flower food sachet, dissolve it in the water before placing your flowers. It contains the right balance of nutrients and antibacterial agents to extend the life of your blooms significantly.
4. Find the Perfect Spot
Flowers thrive in cool, indirect light. Keep your bouquet away from:
- Direct sunlight or heat sources
- Air conditioning vents or fans
- Ripening fruit (which releases ethylene gas that speeds up wilting)
A cool corner of your home or a shaded spot on a table works beautifully.
5. Remove Wilting Leaves & Petals
As your bouquet ages, gently remove any leaves that fall below the waterline or petals that begin to wilt. This keeps the water clean and allows the remaining blooms to flourish a little longer.
6. Mist Your Flowers
A light mist of water on the petals once a day can help flowers stay hydrated, especially in warm or dry environments like the UAE. Just be gentle — some delicate blooms prefer to stay dry on top.
7. Re-trim Every Few Days
Every two to three days, give the stems another small trim and refresh the water. This simple habit can add several extra days of life to your arrangement.
